The Train

Here I stand
Waiting for the train that never comes
That old train, sculpted in my late bones.
But I don't wanna wait.
Oh I don't wanna wait.

For ages have I sailed
Many pages I have written
Now I read it, read it, read it
And always forget what I meant

Someone told me the train's a comin'
I have a glimpse of it's arrival
But daddy told - don't trust anyone
Anyone but yourself

So I picture myself
I am pushing my train onward
I am leaving myself behind
And though I am inside the train
I am always behind the train

Suddenly I'm back
Where the dreams are venomous
And daydreaming is poisonous
And the train is so far away
Oh the train is so far away

Now I dance around conclusions
Over facts that just can't be
Visions and delusions
I saw Eve - she chopped the tree!

In this endless ride inside me
There's no time to get it down
The train keeps me from being free
Sees me playin' a lonely clown

Someday I'll ride the train
But it won't ride me no more
First I must understand
How come one crosses the shore
